324 The director plans and coordinates staffing. LD.2.11 Departments that are not medical staff services that provide patient care are directed by one or more qualified professionals.

LD.2.11.1 Responsibility for administrative direction and clinical direction is defined in writing.

LD.2.4 Directors recommend a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care.

LD.2.5 Directors determine the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners.

325 The director evaluates the department’s staff and has the authority to take appropriate action. LD.2.11 Departments that are not medical staff services that provide patient care are directed by one or more qualified professionals.

LD.2.11.1 Responsibility for administrative direction and clinical direction is defined in writing.

HR.5 The hospital assesses each staff member’s ability to meet the performance expectations stated in his or her job description.

326 The director effectively utilizes the department’s human and economic resources. LD.2.8 Directors provide for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in the department.

LD.2.9 Directors recommend space and other resources needed by the department.
